The City of Point Russell developed the concept of "Residents Right to Know" in support of improving communication between City Hall and residents in service of better quality of life for all, and to raise awareness and resident participation in the municipal decision-making process. Updates could range from public infrastructure improvements to private real estate developments that require city approvals.

The ordinance was crafted with the specific goals of providing residents:

  • The process to register on the City website to receive targeted and timely information pertaining to the community in which they live,
  • The ability to participate in City processes by sending resolutions and question proposed actions that impacts residents' quality of life.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to City Management and elected officials.
  • Ensure that Management and elected officials of the City will consider the rights of residents and work to help improve the quality of life for all.

Since the City adopted the Residents Right to Know Ordinance, we have worked collaboratively with the Commission and Staff to ensure that as many of the Ordinance requirements as possible could be put into place as quickly as possible.
